CityHealth has just launched the RapidReturn Kit – a 2 pack of Rapid Antigen tests that international travelers can pack in their carry-on for return testing.
It was recently featured on Newswire. “All you need is wifi, a device with a camera and video calling capabilities, and 15 minutes.”
Sound a little too good to be true? Check out our video for a complete play-by-play of how exactly the RapidReturn Kit works, and follow along as we break down the process.
Why was the CityHealth RapidReturn Kit developed?
In order to return to the US, you must present proof of a documented Negative COVID test, regardless of your vaccination status.
For a comprehensive guide on returning to the US after international travel, check out our guide to Returning to the US After International Travel for helpful advice on how to choose a COVID test, when and how to test, and what to do after you return home.
If you’re an international traveler who travels often or has a trip coming up, this DIY testing kit could be a perfect COVID testing solution for you.
You’ll get an airline-approved Digital Health Certificate (your results document), and the whole process only takes fifteen minutes.
Your results will be securely emailed to you shortly after your supervised virtual test. Then, simply bring your results to the airline before boarding.
Tip: Many airlines offer an app that will allow you to upload your results before arriving at the airport. Check with your airline.
The RapidReturn test is authorized for home use, and it’s for people aged 2 and older.
Live demo of the CityHealth RapidReturn Kit
I’ve never done an at-home test kit for COVID myself before, and for demonstrative purposes, I actually tried taking the test and filmed it in real-time. I definitely found the process to be straightforward, convenient and delivering quick results.

How does the RapidReturn Kit work?
This is how the process works:
- Order your RapidReturn test kits before you leave and pack them in your carry-on luggage. Standard shipping takes about 72 hours (allow more time if you order on the weekend), but you can choose an expedited shipping method.
- Log on to activate your kit when it’s time to take your pre-travel test. You can do it in the privacy of your hotel or Airbnb. This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and the testing process takes about 15 minutes. You don’t have to schedule an appointment, and you can literally take it anywhere in the world with a stable wifi connection. You’ll need a video-enabled device, such as a smartphone, tablet, or laptop with a webcam.
- Collect & test your own sample during a supervised telehealth visit with a trained Testing Specialist. They will walk you through all the steps and instructions (Spoiler alert: it’s super easy).
- Receive a travel-ready Digital Health Certificate to your email in minutes. A Negative result on this document is approved for re-entry to the United State.
Frequently asked questions about the RapidReturn kit
What type of test is this?
This is a Rapid Antigen test. Your sample is self-collected via a nasal swab inserted about ¾” inside each nostril. This test is designed to be convenient and easy to use for travelers.
Why are tests sold in multiples of 2?
Tests are sold in packs of 2 so that you have a spare test in the event of an inconclusive result, if your flight is delayed for more than 24 hours and you need to re-test, or if one test is lost or damaged while traveling.
Having two tests on hand helps ensure you can still travel if one of these unpredictable situations pops up.
What if my test result is positive for COVID?
If your test result is positive, your Testing Specialist will advise you on the next steps and treatment options. Typically we recommend a follow-up Molecular PCR test, which can detect false-positive results.
If you have contracted COVID, you will not be allowed to board a plane until you have recovered.
How do I present my results for travel?
Depending on the airline you’re traveling with, you may be able to upload your test results to your airline’s booking app before you claim your boarding pass. If they don’t do this, you will be asked to present your test results to airline staff for inspection.
We recommend printing or downloading your results on your phone or device to present while traveling.
Final review of the RapidReturn Kit
All in all, this is a great COVID testing kit to consider for international travel. It will spare you long airport testing lines, trying to locate approved clinics in a foreign country, or coordinating in-person testing appointments.
